Tower Australia

Acelero maximises performance culture at Tower Australia

Overview:
Tower Australia is a provider of financial services, insurance, investment and superannuation solutions. With over 700 employees, it was looking for a platform that would enable the management of multiple HR needs including performance review, training, development, self reviews and team reviews.

Tower Australia also wanted to replace its existing cumbersome paper-based system with a platform that would provide more consistency and free up managers to focus on improving outcomes rather than becoming bogged down in the performance management system.

“We were looking for an HR platform that would glue all of our processes together and that could deliver to our employees a clear line of sight with our strategic imperatives while being able to incorporate them into their individual development and appraisal plans”, says Group Head of Resources, Simons Higgins.

The Acelero Solution:
Acelero implemented a completely on-line solution that could lighten the traditional administrative loads placed on managers while ensuring individual performance was better aligned with corporate strategy.

“With ease of system access, we have been able to substantially reduce the reliance on HR as a source of performance related information within the business while maximising the control that managers and our people have over their own information,” says Mr Higgins.

Acelero replaced the old paper-based, decentralised system to a centralised, streamlined and intelligent platform. This has revolutionised Tower’s people management processes, making them more meaningful and adding real value to performance review data.

With significant time saving, transparency and efficiency of use, Acelero has enabled Tower to free up time to focus on the higher value aspects of the employee performance development and reporting process.

“We have also been able to minimise the number of times that we need to go to the business with requests to provide performance related information,” says Mr. Higgins.

Outcomes:
Acelero’s primary objective was to enhance Tower Australia’s performance through more efficient management of its employees. By helping people meet their personal objectives, Tower’s business has been able to better meet its goals.

“The Acelero technology provides more control, more knowledge, more data and deeper insights that go straight into building the strength of this business and the relationships between our business leaders and their teams,” says Mr. Higgins.

Acelero has improved the accessibility and transparency of performance feedback and linked it to concrete outcomes around reward, training and career progression. This has resulted in the company-wide reinforcement of the commitment to delivering on promises and maintaining a strong performance culture.

“The power of the Acelero system is that it provides the mechanism by which employee objectives can be aligned with corporate imperatives. It also maximises the degree to which employees can actively and transparently participate in the performance review process,” says Mr. Higgins.

sanofi-aventis

Peformance management streamlined at sanofi-aventis

Overview:
sanofi-aventis is one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies. In Australia it has more than 700 employees, with head office in Sydney and offices in each state. sanofi-aventis was seeking a leading edge HR technology solution to support its performance based culture. It also wanted to move forward from its existing paper-based HR performance process, which was cumbersome and unwieldy.

“We had a situation where managers had upwards of 12 staff, working from a paper based HR performance process that was approximately 10 to12 pages long. There was no central repository of information or ability for this process to be transparent, or for training needs to be cleared identified,” says Ronán Carolan, Director of Human Resources at sanofi-aventis.

The Acelero Solution:
Acelero’s Strategic People Management platform enabled sanofi-aventis to streamline its HR processes. The online platform provided insights into HR needs that made solutions intuitive. Its ease of use resulted in high levels of timely compliance – no matter what category of employee - and it was highly cost effective.

The Acelero platform is designed to encourage honest discussion, integrate HR information seamlessly and provide an imperative and dynamic knowledge bank. These solutions have resulted in a meaningful appraisal process that is actionable and manageable.

“Acelero was a no risk solution for us,” says Mr Carolan.

Outcomes:
Staff at sanofi-aventis have been forced to really think about their appraisal, says Mr Carolan. The open and flexible reporting system has led to honest, courageous and audacious discussion.

“All too often the manager’s appraisal is based on the staff member’s own appraisal – and this is not the case in this system. Both appraisals exists in the final report so the dialogue and the conclusion are rich,” says Mr Carolan.

“I believe that the platform encourages involvement and meaningful dialogue that allows our teams to work in alignment with the company goals whilst capitalising on their individuals’ strengths,” “It is a very easy to use system no matter what category of employee including scientists and theorists, the system can be implemented across a diverse employee platform,” he adds.
